If you’ve never been to a Physio appointment before, you may be wondering what to expect when you attend. In this brief blog, we will look at a few aspects that are commonly asked from our clients.
All Physio appointments, initial and subsequent, are 30 minutes in duration.
Initial consultations are based on understanding the reasons for your visit, assessing and diagnosing (if applicable) your injury/issue, providing you with an easy-to-understand explanation of what has likely caused your issue, what it is, how best to manage it now and how to prevent it for the future. Subsequent sessions are primarily based on treatment interventions, but a re-assessment will be required to ensure progress has been made with your issue.
So what treatment interventions will be provided? Physiotherapists have a huge variety of treatment techniques in their ‘toolkit’, including but not limited to hands-on treatment (massage, joint manipulations etc), exercise prescription, Dry Needling and Home Exercise Program provision.
The frequency of physiotherapy appointments depends on your condition and its severity. Usually a week between consults is most commonly seen; however, for some people Physiotherapy may only be required every 3-4 weeks. Your Physio will assess your condition at every visit and will update your treatment plan each time.
